Sunday Evening in Calgary: Vinyl, Comedy and a Carnival
Tonight runs from a music coffee hour at Found Books to late-night dance floors, with comedy, a carnival-themed bar night and a river run in between.
The early evening starts gently. "Tupaj: Found of Music Coffee Hour ↗" at Found Books & Shop at 4 p.m. is exactly what it sounds like — music, coffee, a good room. At the same hour, "Welcome To Carnival ↗" opens at CHI-CHA Lounge & Bar at 6 p.m., promising a themed night that should warm up as the temperature drops toward the forecast 12.9° overnight low.
"HOT LAPS River Run with Eighty Eight Brewing ft. Shaun Selects ↗" at 311 8 St SW at 6 p.m. is for those who want to move before they settle. The run finishes at the brewery, with Shaun Selects on the decks — a practical combination.
For laughs, "Laugh Loft Comedy at the The Attic Bar & Stage" at 1413 9 Ave SE starts at 7:30 p.m. and is one of the more consistent Sunday-night comedy formats in the city.
Late night belongs to two competing rooms. "Déjà Vu: Say My Name ↗" at Sweet Loretta Bar from 10 p.m. leans into nostalgia, while "Rumur Presents: Tape B Themed After Party" at Velvet Room YYC, also from 10 p.m., goes harder on the themed-night concept. Both are worth considering depending on your energy — and Sunday 10 p.m. sets have a pleasingly low-stakes feel when Monday is a cloudy 18.9°.
