Tri-Axle Gravel Truck Driver (Class 3)

About Kidco Construction

Kidco Construction is a full-service construction company based in Calgary, Alberta. We specialize in residential earthworks, underground utility excavation, and basement excavation for residential and commercial projects. With nearly four decades of experience, we handle every stage of a project, from site preparation and infrastructure installation to foundation excavation, equipment repair, and material hauling.

Our Material Hauling division is growing, and we're hiring an experienced Tri-Axle Gravel Truck Driver for year-round work.

What You'll Do

Haul gravel, sand, topsoil, fill, and excavated dirt in a tri-axle gravel truck between our job sites, pits, and dump sites across Calgary and the surrounding area
Drive a loaded gravel truck through busy city streets, including heavy traffic, residential neighbourhoods, school zones, and tight turns
Drive on and off our active earthworks sites, where the ground is often uneven, soft, muddy, or sloped
Back up, position, and dump loads safely and accurately where the site crew or equipment operators direct you
Work around excavators, loaders, dozers, and ground crews, staying aware of other equipment and people on site
Drive safely in Calgary weather, including rain, mud, snow, ice, and freeze-thaw conditions
Do thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and report any mechanical issues right away
Keep your truck clean, including clearing mud and debris before going back on public roads
Submit your daily hours and load information on a tablet using HCSS My Field

What We're Looking For

At least 2 years of experience driving a tri-axle or tandem gravel truck
A valid Class 3 licence with air brake (Q) endorsement and a clean driver's abstract (required)
Confidence driving a loaded gravel truck in city traffic
Experience driving on construction sites with mud, slopes, soft ground, and uneven terrain
Fluent spoken English and the ability to clearly understand and follow instructions from supervisors, operators, and site crews
Comfortable using a tablet to enter your time and job information
Previous experience with HCSS My Field is an asset
Able to do physical work, such as lifting, bending, crouching, and climbing in and out of the truck
Safety-focused, reliable, and professional on public roads and on site
Able to work on your own and as part of a team

Typical Schedule

Year-round position
Monday to Saturday, 8 to 12 hours per day
Work is weather dependent, so hours may change or days may be cancelled because of heavy rain or extreme conditions

What We Offer

Competitive wages based on experience
Overtime pay: after 8 hours per day or 44 hours per week
Pay increases for strong performers
Vacation/holiday pay: 9.6% on every cheque
Benefits package through OpenCircle: health, dental, vision, prescription drugs, and life insurance, plus Teladoc online and video doctor visits. Benefits start once you reach 300 hours, followed by a one-month waiting period.
RRSP matching program: Kidco matches 100% of your contributions to your self-directed RRSP
