*We are hiring urgently for fall cleanups and need workers available to start immediately. Please clearly specify whether you can start today, tomorrow or next Monday. If none of these work, provide your earliest available start date.*

We also have opportunities to continue into winter snow removal, with potential for year-round employment and advancement into leadership roles.

Responsibilities

* Fall cleanups: raking, tarping, bagging and hauling leaves.
* Snow removal using shovels, scrapers, backpack blowers and other equipment.
* Applying ice melt to walkways and other designated areas.
* Mowing, trimming, edging, gardening and other property maintenance.
* Loading, unloading and securing tools and equipment.
* Routine equipment checks and basic maintenance.
* Following safety instructions and working carefully around client property.

Gutter cleaning and Christmas light installation may also be available. Please mention your experience and comfort working on ladders. Duties and equipment use will be assigned according to training, ability and applicable youth employment requirements.

Requirements

* Available to start immediately.
* Punctual, reliable and able to communicate clearly.
* Prepared for physically demanding outdoor work in changing weather.
* Able to follow safety instructions.
* Cellphone with data for work communication.
* *Steel-toe safety footwear is required. Safety glasses, suitable work gloves and hearing protection must be worn as required for the task.*
* Appropriate outdoor clothing and spare clothing for changing or wet conditions.
* Availability for the shifts agreed upon during hiring.

Previous landscaping, snow removal, gardening or equipment maintenance experience is an asset. *Applicants with no previous employment or physical labour experience are welcome to apply for entry-level helper positions.* Paid training is provided.

Drivers and transportation

*Drivers:* A valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle and confidence driving in winter are required. A truck or SUV with winter tires is an asset.

*Helpers:* No vehicle is required if you can meet at the designated pickup location. Canyon Meadows CTrain Station pickup is available at 8 a.m. for applicable shifts. Transportation for earlier snow shifts must be arranged and confirmed in advance.

Schedule

* Fall cleanup shifts generally start between 6:45 and 7:30 a.m.
* Snow removal shifts usually start around 5 a.m., depending on conditions.
* Hours vary with weather and workload; longer days, weekends and evenings may be required.
* Youth schedules will comply with applicable school-hour, supervision and working-hour restrictions.

Pay and hiring process

* *Experienced workers and drivers: $21–$35/hour*, depending on experience, responsibilities and demonstrated skills.
* *Entry-level applicants with no previous employment or physical labour experience may start at the applicable Alberta minimum wage:* currently $15/hour for most employees.
* Eligible students under 18 may start at $13/hour where the student minimum wage legally applies. During school weeks, hours beyond 28 per week are paid at least $15/hour. During school breaks, the student rate may apply to all regular hours.
* The starting rate will be confirmed before any work begins.
* Working interviews and required training are paid. Any ongoing offer and wage will be discussed after the working interview.
* Weekly payment by e-transfer through payroll, with applicable deductions and employment entitlements.
* Tools, equipment and ice melt supplied.

Applicants under 18

Youth applicants may be considered for suitable duties. *We require written parent or guardian consent for applicants under 18 as a company policy.*

All applicable permit, school-hour, supervision and safety requirements must also be satisfied before work begins. Applicants aged 13–14 require an Alberta Employment Standards permit for this work. Workers aged 15–17 may work before 6 a.m. only with the required parental consent and adult supervision.

Snow removal bonuses

* $75 daily bonus for qualifying snowfall of 10 cm or more.
* $75 daily bonus for qualifying temperatures of −30°C or colder.
* A seasonal performance bonus may also be available.
