Valora Homes is looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience in underground utilities, excavation, mainline and sidehoe operations, as well as residential demolition.
Our projects involve a variety of residential construction and development work, offering an opportunity to operate equipment across excavation, underground servicing, site preparation, and demolition.

Key Responsibilities
*Excavation & Underground Utilities*
* Operate excavators for residential excavation, trenching, grading, and site preparation.
* Perform mainline and sidehoe operations for underground utility installations.
* Excavate trenches to specified depths, grades, and alignments for water, storm, and sanitary services.
* Assist with the installation and placement of underground utility pipes.
* Handle and position pipe, gravel, soil, and other construction materials using heavy equipment.
* Complete backfilling, grading, and site preparation to meet project specifications.
* Work alongside ground crews, pipe layers, and other trades to maintain efficient site operations.
*Residential Demolition & Site Work*
* Operate excavators and other equipment for residential demolition projects.
* Safely dismantle and remove existing structures, foundations, concrete, and other building materials.
* Load, sort, and manage demolition debris for removal and disposal.
* Assist with site clearing, material handling, and preparation for new construction.
* Maintain awareness of surrounding structures, neighbouring properties, underground services, and site conditions.
*Equipment Operation & Safety*
* Conduct daily equipment inspections and identify maintenance or mechanical concerns.
* Operate machinery responsibly in active and often confined residential construction environments.
* Follow project drawings, site instructions, and grade requirements.
* Identify potential hazards and participate in daily safety assessments.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
* Follow all applicable Occupational Health and Safety regulations, company procedures, and WCB requirements.
Experience & Qualifications
* Minimum 2–3 years of excavator operating experience.
* Previous experience with mainline and sidehoe operations is strongly preferred.
* Underground utility installation and earthworks experience.
* Residential demolition experience is considered a strong asset.
* Ability to read and follow grades, elevations, and site instructions.
* Strong understanding of excavation safety and underground utility awareness.
* Experience working around residential properties, structures, and active construction sites.
* Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a crew.
* Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation.
* Own steel-toed safety boots and required basic PPE.
