Flames, Sebastian Bach and Halloween at Modern Love
What else is on this week
All Calgary events →Friday stacks hockey, a hair-metal double bill and two Halloween nights at Modern Love into the next 48 hours.
Tonight's split three ways, and everything starts within three hours.
"Calgary Flames vs. Seattle Kraken ↗" goes at 6:00 pm at the Saddledome. That early puck drop is the whole appeal: you're out by nine with time to change into a costume.
Over at Grey Eagle, "Sebastian Bach with special guest Quiet Riot ↗" starts at 8. If you were ever going to see Quiet Riot as an opener, this is the night. I'm not being cruel. I'd go.
Heritage Park is running "Where Dark Things Dwell — Outdoor Escape Room ↗" at 8:00 pm, and it's sitting at minus one with fog rolling in. That's either perfect atmosphere or ninety minutes of cold fingers. Wear real gloves.
Kids get "A Concrete Jungle Book ↗" at StoryBook Theatre at 7:00 pm, and "SUE: THE T.REX EXPERIENCE ↗" opens at Spark at 9:00 am both days. Saturday morning is your window, before every small dinosaur in the city shows up in costume.
Modern Love's "Halloween Party ↗" starts at 9 tonight. Save Commonwealth for tomorrow.
Saturday opens with "Calgary Wranglers vs. Laval Rocket ↗" at noon, back at the Saddledome. It's a cheap way to fill the afternoon before the night gets loud.
Then it's Halloween proper. "Modern Love Halloween ↗" runs from 9:00 pm, and Commonwealth's "Haunted House Party - Pres. By Common Saturdays ↗" doesn't start until 10. Two nights in a row at Modern Love is fine. Two nights of lineups in the fog on 10th Avenue is not, so pick your Saturday room early and get there before ten.
