Cavalry's Playoff Semi, Allison Russell and Two Flames Home Games
What else is on this week
All Calgary events →A Cavalry playoff game at Spruce Meadows, Allison Russell at the Grey Eagle, two Flames games and a Tuesday night worth keeping free.
Saturday at 3 pm is the one I'd move plans for. "Cavalry FC - CPL Playoff Semi Final Rd 2" is at ATCO Field at Spruce Meadows, and a playoff soccer game in November calls for the boots you shovel in and a thermos of something hot. Go loud.
Friday's crowded. Allison Russell plays "Allison Russell: In The Hour of Chaos Tour ↗" at the Grey Eagle Event Centre at 7:30, and that's my pick of the whole week. At the Saddledome, "Calgary Flames vs. Anaheim Ducks ↗" drops the puck at 7. That's a game I'd watch from a bar stool before I'd buy a seat for it. If you've got the legs, "Gorgon City ↗" doesn't start at The Palace Theatre until 10.
I'd skip "Disney Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas In Concert " at the Jubilee the same night. It's November 6. Let the snow stick first.
Saturday has three listings at WinSport for what looks like one show, Dean Brody and The Reklaws on the Hometown Heroes tour. If arena country's your thing, enjoy it. I'd rather catch "Surf Hat w/ Skinny Dyck ↗" at Modern Love at 5, be done early, and still have a whole night in front of me.
Of the two Flames games, I'd take Sunday's. "Calgary Flames vs Philadelphia Flyers Presented by Mayfair Diagnostics ↗" starts at 6, so you're home before Monday gets into your head. Or go small with "Cat Clyde & Dean Johnson " at Commonwealth Bar at 8.
And hold Tuesday. "Wolf Parade ↗" plays The Palace Theatre at 7.
