An early Begonia show at Commonwealth tonight, then Friday forces a choice between the Flames, Allison Russell and two late rooms.

Begonia - The Fantasy Life Tour is the Thursday pick, listed for 6:00 pm at Commonwealth Bar. That's early. Eat after, not before.

Got a long lunch? Contemporary Calgary has Ghazaleh Avarzamani: Churn, Earn, Burn and then Return from noon both days, and a weekday's the right time for a show like that.

Over at TELUS Spark , SUE: THE T.REX EXPERIENCE opens at 9:00 am daily. I'd go Friday morning over anything on the weekend, when every family in the city has the same idea.

Friday evening gets crowded fast. Calgary Flames vs. Anaheim Ducks drops the puck at 7:00 pm, Allison Russell: In The Hour of Chaos Tour starts at the Grey Eagle at 7:30 pm, and you can't do both. I'd go Russell. The Flames are home again Sunday.

For the 10:00 pm crowd it's Gorgon City at The Palace Theatre or World Famous Fridays (Rap Night) - Free RSVP back at Commonwealth Bar. The second one costs you an RSVP and nothing else, which settles it for a lot of people.

These two days are also when you should drive out to the Millarville Christmas Market at the Millarville Racing & Agricultural Society, before Saturday's cars fill the lot.
